Wednesday-Thursday Night Bible Study Recap (10/11/13)

Hey y’all, here we go again for another recap of Romans chapter 5, verses 12 to 21.  This week was very enjoyable as we went over the inheritance we got from Adam and Christ.  When Adam sinned, this sin and death passed onto all of us.  However, through Christ, we received all of His life and grace.  This is pretty amazing, and verse 15 sums this up greatly, as it says, “For if by the offense of the one the many died, much more the grace of God and the free gift in grace of the one man Jesus Christ have abounded to the many.”  Another great part of this aspect is that Christ not only repays our debt but also goes even further than this and gives us His wonderful life.  A good way of thinking about this is if we owed someone money, the person we owed it to forgave this debt but and then gave us money as well.  Hallelujah for this wonderful fact! Another enjoyable verse was 5:17, which says that “For if, by the offense of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One Jesus Christ.”  When we receive this life and grace from Christ, we no longer have to be subject to the sin and death in our body.  Instead, we can now reign over this sin and have Christ, instead of death, take the preeminence and charge in all of our matters in life.  Praise the Lord for this free gift of grace and righteousness!
