4/21/17 Dwell in You Richly

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” Colossians 3:16. This verse has come up again and again this past week. Last week, in our Fellowship Night on the book of Colossians, we covered this matter of letting the word of Christ dwell and make home in your heart. And this week, in some of our Bible studies, we covered Colossians chapter 3. Even in my personal reading and prayer this week, I have been considering a lot this matter of eating the Word of God as our spiritual food.

Though there are many awesome aspects of this verse, this week I have been impressed with the word “richly. Wow. Richly. What does that even mean? For the word of Christ to dwell in you richly. Whenever I consider this, I just have a feeling and appreciation for the vastness and richness of the Word of God. Colossians 1:27 says that God willed to make known to us the riches of His glory, which is Christ in us! But, how can we experience these riches practically? An excellent way is to enjoy the Word of God in a living way. When we realize that the Word of God is God Himself, we can come to the Bible as a living Person. As we muse, pray, and consider over the verses that touch us, we can have a sense that we are truly eating the Word of God (Matt. 4:4) and that we are being constituted with all the riches of God. His Word is richer than any steak dinner. May this be our experience this week! Hallelujah RICHLY!
