This past week we had a great time going over the second part of Romans 8, one of my favorite sections in the Bible. The first thing I enjoyed is our matter of transformation. Through verses 14-17, we see that we go through the process of going from children of God, to sons of God, and then finally to “joint heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17). Children represents being young and immature, but when we finally become heirs, we are older and more responsible. As “heirs of God” (Romans 8:17), when we finally become mature in the Lord, we can inherit Him as our everything! Transitioning to one of my favorite series of verses, 8:28-30, we also see that this transformation results in our being “conformed to the image of His Son” (Romans 8:29). Verse 28 says that “all things work together for good”, with this “good” being our conformation. All of our circumstances, whether good, bad, or in between, are arranged by God to change our inward being. When we depend on Him in all of our situations, we are slowly being conformed to “the image of His Son,” making us to be His many sons and heirs.
