Last night, Christians on Campus at UC Berkeley had a joyous time with our small group Bible studies where we had some enjoyable and enriching fellowship on the fourth chapter of the the book of 1st Thessalonians. One of the students who attended had this highlight to share.
“In 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, apostle Paul exhorts the Thessalonians to be sanctified and to abstain from fornication. When I read this before, I took this matter as a personal matter; that I should be sanctified so that I, as God’s vessel, can be purified and preserved. However, after a wonderful, rich fellowship with the saints in tonight’s Bible Study, I realized that sanctification is not only a personal matter but also a corporate matter. If we are not on guard and fall into temptation, not only would fornication pollute our body and soul but it would damage our relationship with our family, friends, and the saints. So, in order to preserve a healthy relationship especially with the brothers and the sisters, we need to be sanctified and abstain from fornication.”
